THE NAA IS THE BEST WAY TO GET TO CANNES – AND MAKE A NAME FOR YOURSELF IN THE INDUSTRY. STOP MAKING EXCUSES. ENTER THE 2010 NAA.

Remember why you got into this business in the first place? Was it to slave away adapting 1/2 page dealer newspaper ads? Hell no. You got into advertising because you crave the challenge of creating the world’s best advertising. The ones everyone else will wish they had done. It keeps you up at night.

That’s why, seven years ago, we created the National Advertising Awards. To strip away the layers of approvals. To free you from the oppression of your envious account director. To give you a brief that digs a little deeper than ’sell more widgets’. And to give you the chance to go head-to-head on a level playing field with the country’s brightest.

This is your time to shine. Enjoy it while it lasts.

The National Advertising Awards Competition is North America’s only major brief-based advertising awards competition. The National Advertising Awards Competition melds the unleashed creative thinking of Canada’s advertising community with the needs of major clients.

THE MISSION

  • Celebrate and reward outstanding advertising creativity
  • Deliver fresh ideas to Canada’s leading brands

HOW IT WORKS

  1. Choose which categories you want to enter and download the brief(s)
  2. Create the best work of your life (by yourself or in a team of two)
  3. Submit it to the NAA to be judged by Canada’s top advertising professionals
  4. Win your category and get a free trip to the Cannes Advertising Festival in France

ELIGIBILITY

The National Advertising Awards (NAA) are open to all members of the Canadian advertising, marketing and interactive media industries. Categories are open to all ages with the exception of Young Media (please see specific category guidelines for more information.) All entries must be original work, and must be submitted on or before the deadlines for submission (5:30 PM EST on Friday, April 9, 2010. The NAA is not responsible for any entrant submission error.

Entrants may submit entries by themselves or in teams of two.

FEES

Entrants may submit entries for as many categories as they like, as long as they meet the age requirements (please see specific category guidelines for more information). The category entry fees are charged per entry, not per category; therefore, two entries to the same category require that two entry fees be submitted. For further clarification regarding entry fees, please contact Missy Robson at missy@adcam.ca or (416)203-0753 x 224.

FRENCH LANGUAGE ENTRIES

The NAA is pleased to be broadening the competition to include French language entries. Entrants may choose to submit their work in either official language (English or French) for all categories except Direct and Young Media. To ensure that each entry is given full and fair consideration by each member of the category jury, entrants submitting their work in French are asked to include an English-language translation.

ENTRIES

All entries once submitted are considered property of Adcam Marketing for the purposes of awards, educational and online exhibition or to be used by the brands that the entries represent for promotional purposes. Any work that is used by the respective brands will be eligible for a $1,000 stipend payment by the brand in question (winners sent to Cannes excepted).

JUDGING & AWARDS

In each category, all entries will be presented anonymously to the elected jury for judging. The official judging sessions will be held over four days in April 2010. At the discretion of the judging panel, and with the exception of the Young Creatives category (please see below), a maximum number of 7 awards will be given out per category (Gold, Silver, Bronze, Merit, Finalist.) Based on the quality of the work, the juries may award anywhere from one to seven awards, or none at all. One Gold, one Silver, one Bronze, and up to two Merit and two Finalist awards can be given out per category.

The individual or team (maximum two (2) members) behind the top awarded entry in each category will win a trip to Cannes* and a trophy. Regardless of what medal is awarded, the top winners in each category go to Cannes. All other award winners will receive certificates.

*The trip to Cannes includes return airfare from Toronto to Nice, France and a three-day delegate registration to the Cannes Lions 57th International Advertising Festival. Winners of the Young Media category will receive a four-day delegate registration as well as four nights accommodation in Cannes (shared occupancy).

All decisions by the juries regarding eligibility and awards are final.
